On layovers, I often went for long walks for exercise and to do a little sightseeing. A favorite haunt was the Lincoln Memorial and reflectiong pool on the Washington Mall. It is the perfect place to reconnect with the belief that government of the people, by the people, and for the people will some day prevail over those who would make it all about serving the fat cats... There were many 757 trips through there to places in the Middle East as well as other flying eastbound to Naples, Rota, and the Unite States.
Note also the visit by the Pentagon. The area pictured was where American flight 77 struck the surface during the 9/11 attacks. Though the Pentagon repairs were completed, the 9/11 memorial hadn't been built yet, but the area was cleared in preparation for construction to start.
